Richards Talks Stones, Sobriety Rumors

Keith Richards revealed in the latest issue of Rolling Stone that recent reports of the rocker embracing sobriety are not exactly true.

Richards, along with Mick Jagger and producer Don Was, talked to the veteran music mag about their latest release, the reissued Exile on Main St.

The band's classic 1972 album is packaged in many different editions and will hit stores on May 18th. Many of the sets will feature unreleased Stones tracks from the Exile era.

Regarding new material, Richards stated that their lack of plans didn't necessarily preclude any future albums.

"There's no definite plans, but I can’t see any of them stopping,” the guitarist said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we did some recording later this year.”

However, while he did say that new music was a possibility, Richards wouldn't guarantee any large scale touring plans.

"I don't know how the rest of them feel about roadwork at the moment,” Richards said. “Maybe we’ll search for a different way for the Stones to go back on the road. Maybe not the football stadiums anymore. Maybe something different. You can’t go around there in lemon-yellow tights forever.”

Additionally, Richards addressed reports that he and bandmate Ronnie Wood had given up boozing. While he offered no word on Wood, Richards said, "Listen, the rumors of my sobriety are greatly exaggerated... and we’ll leave it at that.”
