Collins to Receive Songwriting Award
Phil Collins is primed for a season full of accolades. The solo artist and former Genesis drummer is set for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next week as a member of the iconic prog rock group, and now it has been announced that Collins will also be recognized with the Johnny Mercer Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame gala in New York.
The Songwriters Hall of Fame event is set to take place on June 17th.
Meanwhile Collins, along with Genesis bandmates Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford will be present at the Rock Hall of Fame induction on Monday, March 15th. Also joining the band will be guitarist Steve Hackett, who exited the band in 1977, plus longtime touring members Chester Thompson and Daryl Stuermer.
Former member Peter Gabriel, as it was previously reported, will not join Genesis at the induction.
