ABBA Not Performing at Rock Hall Induction
ABBA will not be reuniting to perform when they are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next week. Only two of the Swedish group's four members will be present at the ceremony, which will take place on Monday night (March 15th).
However, there is an upside for fans hoping to hear the group's classic material. Country star Faith Hill will be on hand to perform some of ABBA's material, and the group's Benny Andersson has hinted that he could get behind the microphone as well.
"If someone asks me to, yeah, I will, Andersson said in an interview with Billboard.com. Ill see if I can play something from the old catalog. Accompanying Andersson to the ceremony will be ex-wife and bandmate Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
As for the rest of the group, Bjorn Ulvaeus will miss the event due to a family obligation while Agnetha Faltskog "doesn't like to fly," Andersson explained to USA Today.
"I didn't think this would happen, because we were a pop band, not a rock band, Andersson told Rolling Stone in December. Being a foreigner from the North Pole, this feels really good.
At the time, the singer/songwriter correctly anticipated that the band would not reunite. "The people who are really fond of ABBA for what we did, I think we are doing them a favor by not going out. We all feel the same. Its been too long of a time.
ABBA's fellow inductees this year include Genesis, the Hollies, Jimmy Cliff and the Stooges.
